Capital Sun Group

Founded in January 1997 by Carlo La Porta and Albert Nunez as a Maryland C Corporation, Capital Sun Group has provided renewable energy and energy/water efficiency technologies and consulting to government agencies, industry, agricultural businesses, commercial building owners, and homeowners for the past 25 years.  Both La Porta (deceased) and Nunez have been promoting the commercialization of renewable technologies since the early 1970s.   

CSG specializes in the design and construction of Hybrid PVT+HP systems to maximize the solar roof array energy harvesting potential by using SunDrum Solar thermal panels mounted on the underside of photovoltaic array panels to provide hot water, space heating, cooling, and process hot and or chilled water.  AEE awarded CSG their prestigious International Energy Innovation Project of the Year Award for 2017 for the Enser/Morris Residence Hybrid PVT+HP system design.

CSG also has experience with the new breed of CO2 refrigerant heat pumps for hot water production.  

Our efforts focus on taking our clients as close to or beyond net-zero/carbon-neutrality as possible. CSG has designed and built numerous off-grid, battery-backup grid-tied, and hybrid diesel genset systems. Solar thermal systems are also designed and built as appropriate.  CSG is one of the last remaining solar thermal serving contractors in the mid-Atlantic States Region. 

While most of our work is in the states of Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC, projects have been completed internationally and as far as Nevada, Pennsylvania,  West Virginia, and Idaho.
